31 October 2012

It's been an intensive 2 weeks of training by my teacher and within 2 weeks I've got pretty good results. There was a lot of tips taught to me, in improving my photography skills. Things like composition, and controlling the lighting. Basic skills were reinforced to me to make me better understand how things works and there are so much more to learn.

I am surprised that I've got friends who love my photos and wanted me to guide them in the future. I am delightful that people are loving my hard work. It's definitely a big motivation to allow me to move forward and I'll be happier to share more with others too.

Glad that I'm officially Liew's student. I'm seriously proud of him. Cause he gotten himself First Prize to PSS Photo of the month, and just today, he achieved 'Singapore International Photography Award'. What should I say..? He is really my idol. His awards are endless and countless. And I doubt he can remember the amount of awards he achieved within his 20 years in photography. haha..

Anyway pardon to all readers, my blog content gonna be filled up with lots of photography stuff. It's a push and a goal in my life currently. I love to be a dreamer. Because you dream, one day you will get there...

25 October 2012

So I choose to spend my off days to the tip. Fully utilizing the time that I have, for more photoshoot.

As of tomorrow, early morning trip to Dairy Farm Park with Roy and Liew again. This time round, we are heading to the other side of DFP where there's a lot of damp soil and tall grass. Pretty excited to go adventure with the instructors. 2 to 1 teaching.. heh.. :) I better not disappoint them. Gonna learn and pick up real fast.

As of tomorrow night, it's sister's bday and she wanted a steamboat session at home for a simple celebration. Have been craving for steamboat lately, and it's time to ease my craves.. :P

Saturday morning, will be planning for photoshoot with Liew and his gang of photographers to Pasir Ris Park for macro shoot. Have always wanted to go PRP, but it is just too inconvenient for me to shot there all alone. I'm glad I have the chance to cover PRP..

At noon, I've arranged with Jaycas for movie screening photoshoot organized by his company. And it's gonna be my first event shoot. My first photoshoot for his company event as well. And by night, we are meeting the gang for Yanting's bday celebration. It's really gonna be a fully booked Saturday.

Last by not least, Singapore Karting Championship this Sunday at F1 Pit Building. Event from noon to night. And it's my first time shooting for sports event.

All and all, I'm pretty much filled up with my passion, my hobby. I'm grabbing all opportunities that's coming my way to reach my goals in life. I'm glad I've found good people around, who are willing to help me and giving me a lot of chances and exposure. It's a push now and I believe this will makes me work even harder to achieve what I want.

For all the events that's happening for me this week, I'm hoping weather god will be at my side to support me as well. It's a once a life time chance, Anna.

Jiayou!!!

23 October 2012

looking through instructors' work always motivates me further. Comparing their art pieces to mine, I'm so far from capturing perfect moments. My 3 idols in photography: Joseph, Liew and Roy.

Good shots comes with lots of practices and experiences. And browsing those perfect shots, I'm so gonna work harder. Can't wait for night shift to end, and I'll have 4 days of off and that means more time for practices.

Gonna continue working hard.. :D

21 October 2012

Woke up early, as usual, to have my morning macro shoots. This time round with Liew and his friend's company, I wasn't alone for the searching and shooting. It's been a very rewarding trip meeting the pros. And I was given opportunity to impove myself.

So venue was set at Dairy Farm Park. Thanks to the rain the night before, insects were easily spotted this morning. I personally love DFP because there are more 'varieties' of creature to be seen as compared to other national park. Remember the last time I went night shoot with siwei and sis, there are many interesting creatures to shoot as well.

Well, thanks to Liew, I've finally gotten my Raynox lens at a special price. And now I can magnify my creature even more... Totally in love with it. I believe there will be more opportunities coming up..

19 October 2012

When I thought that this year wasn't a very good year for myself, I was wrong. Those period when I was at my lowest, I'm glad I've got hands that helped me up. This is what has been happening. Everytime when I felt so low, something good will happen to bring up my spirit once again.

Yesterday was my highest spirit. I was able to change my-supposedly-whole-week-afternoon-shift to a morning shift because I deadly want to join MOPSG critique session. Thanks to Xie Jing who agreed to change her shift with me but leaving 5 blood tansfusion cases for her during her shift.

Things got even better when I attended yesterday's session. Have been in photography for almost 3years now. And the most amazing thing was to be recognized. Most importantly, I gave a certain anchoring to many people.

The first thing that I was surprised was when Liew approached me, giving me tips on how to improve on my macro skills. Personally I feel that he create a different kind of macro as compare to Joseph, my idol. Liew is able to display good macros that slowly caught my attention into his work too.

Next was when my photo (the grasshopper) that I've picked was being displayed on the TV panel, Justin knew that the photo was from me. Followed by the Cathay Photo judges who then name me 'The macro girl'. Like seriously, this is the anchoring I've created to many people yesterday. I'm not saying that I was in the limelight, but it seems like many people started recognizing who I am. And I'm really happy about it. Though I din grab any prizes yesterday, it pushed me to work even harder to make it there...

I was approached by two free lancer yesterday, Lawrence and Ash. I'm glad that my circle of friends in photography is enlarging. All thanks to MOPSG, I believe it's a community that I can grow very well in.

I would like to thank Boy for guiding me, brightening my pathway, helping me and supporting me into achieving my next goal in life. Yes, I'm going to continue to be more positive and continue to dream. Believing that dreams will succeed one day. That's the best gift I've ever received from him.

As for mommy, I know you are reading my blog as well. Thank you for supporting me in my decision going for my dreams all this while. I may not have a lot of time for you, but I'll try my best to balance things up for you...

PS: I'm looking forward to join Liew for the next photoshoot. I'm gonna grab every opportunity that's on my way.

PPS: Kim Kiyosaki said 'You are responsible in solving the obstructions that's blocking your way to financial freedom.' And I'm doing it...

PPPS: Happy 59th moniversary to Boy and I. :)

曲婉婷- 我的歌声里

• PSS•

I'm officially a member of Photographic Society of Singapore. Very happy to be part of the member where I can continue to meet more Professionals and learn more photography skills from them. I'm going into a very busy phase of life where there will be many commitments coming up. For the rest of my Oct and start of my Nov, I'll be pretty held up with events and workshops and classes to attend to boost my photography. Not forgetting to ease my non-stop craves to hide in the trees for macros.

Although I'm changing my field to landscape and portrait, the craves for macro shoots still urge me now and then, and I just have to stop those craves by doing it. I'm gonna work extra hard. Extra extra hard...

Imma freak of photographs. Everywhere I go, anything that captures my sight, I have to get it into photos.

The red daisy that was given by my patient. Love the details of the beauty...

• sunrise•

This morning I woke up very early for a less than 2 hrs event held by MOPSG. It's my first time shooting with the committee and it is also my first time shooting sunrise.

Brought my wide angle lens with the ND filters and Grad grey filter with me for the shots. And I'm amazed with the results I've got. Had a short chat with Justin Ng and I simply just love being in the committee. We get to share ideas and skills with the amateur as well as learning it from them.

The session lasted less than 2hrs because sunrise comes and goes. Pretty satisfied with my shots today . Photos will be uploaded soon. Time to head home for some rest. I'm on afternoon shift later. It's gonna be a long day for me...

This photo is taken with my IPhone at 0620hrs at Marina Boulevard.

• goals set•
12 October 2012

Boy has been pushing me to write out my goals for in life, and its finally done. It is said that 'Writing out the goals you want to achieve in life to make it visible, placed it at a place where you often will see it, so as to be able to visualize your goals and work towards it.'

Many people have proved it workable to place goals in pictures. Print your goals in picture, and works towards it. Set time targets to achieve those goals, and one day you will be there.

My goals are set, and my business plan is in progress. Time target has been set, and its time to works towards it.

PS: No wasting of time, go all in and don't back up...

08 October 2012

Bought this wine from DFS when we came back from Krabi. Just started tasting the wine we got. And this is seriously one of the best white wine I've ever tasted.

I've always prefer wine produce in France. Most of their wine gives the finest taste of grapes, be in the red or wine grape. And 'First Frost' is something I'm hooked into now..

I'm really happy to see that my girl has come this far with her beloved after so many years of their courtship. Every relationship has its ups and downs and I'm seeing her finally walked down the red carpet with her Yeng, I'm happy for her.

I was happily planning for her gate crash as her bridesmaid when my dad suddenly last min threw me a bomb few days before her wedding day. (damned!) I was freaking pissed with dad but I'm just speechless about what has happened. And in the end I was unable to be my girl's bridesmaid.

Cleared out all those shits dad caused and luckily last min I was still able to attend her wedding. Brought my boy with me. And I saw Vic when I enter the ballroom..

• Gather(s)•

Simply love the girls and missing the rest of the Nanas.. With nanas, we always camwhore...!!!

• solemnization•
06 October 2012

For so much that I've done being a nurse, fulfilling patient's basic needs often make patient gives 'the smile' in return for being appreciative in helping them. By doing the extra miles to the special kind of patient is not just about appreciative, but getting their wishes granted.

I have to admit that being in the VIP ward, I often get exposed to things that are 'normally not done in the ward'. And I'm glad I can have such opportunity like this to explore in my nursing life. For today, I was arranging for my patient to attend her son's solemnization. Our ward tutorial room was booked for the solemnization to hold. It was my patient's last few days of her life journey. Her last wish is to see her son get married and he requested to hold it in the ward settings. Arrangement was done as per request, and definitely, this is something so rare to experience as a nurse.

I'm glad to have fulfilled what has been requested, most importantly, fulfilling my patient's last wish... and she will have a good closure. After the ceremony, I saw a butterfly in the room. And for people who have heard about the stories of butterfly, you should know what I mean...

This is a remarkable incident that worth writing down... ...

03 October 2012

The amount of workload at work lately is totally crazy. No time to breathe, no time to rest. It's just non stop and endless. It's been going on for the last 6weeks, before my leave, and even when I'm back from leave, things are still as bad...

I seldom head home straight after my morning shift, but today, I just need it. Stayed at workplace till almost 6pm to prepare my 'Clinical Teaching Round' for this Friday and right now I'm totally not in the mood to get them prepared. Totally shagged working at such areas.

I'm still waiting for the day to come. That particular day will come soon, I believe...
