• model for bridal make-up•
30 May 2011

It is a rare opportunity to be a model for somebody.
Given my looks and figure.
I know I have got bad features on my face.
The biggest problem is my eyes.
My left eyelid is double while my right lid is single.
Resulting in a big and a small eyes.

It was a biggest challenge for Shiyun for choosing me as her model.
I was asked to be her bridal model for her make up exam at Cosmoprof.
And during her trial make up on me,
we were figuring hard on how to balance up the size of my eyes.

And this were the results.

The Day Bridal Make up.

And the Night Bridal Make up.

I appreciate the effort that she spent on me.
Besides the make up, there are props, photos and costumes that were all by her own effort.
I could see a lot of hard work put in.
Knowing many people seen the different part of me,
and liking the make up,
I guess Yun, your hard work are being paid off.

I hope that you will score well in your exam.
And I've reserved you for being my make up artiste during my wedds.
That's our promise.
:)

I guess I have learn a lot of make up techniques from here too.

I always thinks that my eyes are not suitable for eye-liner.
And that I'll look like some bimbos after thick make ups.
And those fake lashes?
Always found it a chore to mend them.
Wore them and felt like they will drop off anytime.

Maybe I should say I learnt to appreciate make-up after all the trials that I had.
:)

• Must Drink Friday•

So boy won another 2 pairs of tickets to FM 91.3 'Must Drink Friday'.
And last Friday,
there we were at Madarin Hotel level 36,
360 degree bar.
Together with his friends,
Max and Violet.

Theme for that day: Bollywood.

My outfit plus make-up that day.
(thanks to shiyun, for that wonderful make-up)

And Boy's outfit.

As usual, there were games.
But this time round, we did not participate.

While 4 of us were happily drinking,
a group of people join us at the table.
And this caucasian asked me for a photo.

this was the group of them.
Cool huh..
The scenery out there was fantastic.
Awesomely pretty.
I regretted not bringing my tripod,
cause this was once in a blue that I can climb to level 36 in town,
to have a good view out there.
Still, I manage to shoot a proper view from the bar.

And more games played.

Not forgetting photos taking with the deejays.

Last but not least,
Max and Violet with that Caucasian who has mixed into one.

The environment for mandarin is much better than Helipad at clark quay.
But the deejays, and games were not as fantastic and happening as previous.
I believe I will get more chance to attend MDF again.
It's awesome...

23 May 2011

Can't believe I got myself falling sick again.
Catching cold right after having irritable sore throat.
And mucous have been playing tricks on me.
Accumulating and flowing down like a water tap.
Nothing to stop it from flowing.
Even Clarinase don't help me this time.

Work has been hectic lately.
Everytime not related to nursing care.
It's always about dealing with discharge issues.
And I was expected to solve it by myself.

I realised I felt easily tire at work.
Mentally tired I meant.
And always need short getaways to relieve myself.
Guess I'm still bad at stress management...

I can't wait for Penang trip coming in mid- June...

19 May 2011

Had Vesak day spent with Desmond, and we went photoshooting together. Like things are moving the way I want it. Find khakis to meet up for photoshooting together. Exchange photos. And exchange tips and knowledge. And at the end of everything, we are heading for the same goal, that is to get beautiful photos.

Photos are up on FB. And I'm glad with what I've took. I see improvement in my skills, and of course, thanks to him, who guided me through. Both of us were being challenged by the low-lighted environment, and the crowded environment in the temple.

Though I still not producing fantastic photos, I know I have tried.

When we were planning our way to Fort Canning for my macro shots, I received a call from Mum stating that she needs to head to SGH A&E straightaway. She had a bad allergy over her facial and it was super edematous. It wasn't her first time having this, but it was definitely the worst one.

She was called to stay for 8hrs for further observation. And it was sum up to 1am. At 11pm, her swell didn't subside much even after steroid was given to her. She was told to carry on with another 8hrs of observing. And so Sis and I decided to leave her in hospital while we head back to get her necessities.

Took the first bus to SGH the next morning, and waited for doctors to come. They told her that she can be discharge despite the swell was actually as bad as the night before. All and all, mum was finally discharge at 12pm. But things weren't satisfied.

Sometimes I wonder why doctors shoo their patients home when the patient has not fully recover. So what if all the test results are normal. I was very disappointed with the work flow. I experienced it when I was admitted last year, and same thing happen to me as well. Guess it's time to make some change...

• My boyfriend's GF..•
15 May 2011

My boyfriend's newest girlfriend.
The lens that I've been eyeing for.
Tamron macro 90mm, F2.8, ratio 1:1.

This pretty girl is in my hands now.
My new toys now.

And I believe my boyfriend loves her.

Believe more macro photos will be posted here more often.
That's expected.

Till then.
:)

• Friday the 13!•

On friday, I was on night shift. The worst night shift that I have ever worked. And unluckily, it falls on 'Friday the 13...'

Had a hectic night, having patient who had diarrhea that was like a waterfall. Never ending, never stopping.
My patient who went for venous line insertion and come back with active bleeding.
Used 2 full hours to apply manual pressure to the bleeding site which makes not much of difference in the end.
After adrenaline pack was done, everything is under control. But I had used 3/4 of my shift just to handle that case.
Not forgetting about admission.

I was worn out by 6am. Totally drained. I actually fall asleep right at the counter, and I'm glad I was not punished by having so. I guess Sis J understand why.

That morning, taking the routine bus back home. I literally slept my way to the bus interchange. Someone gimme a hard shake and I felt thankful for that. Otherwise, I might end up back to SGH the moment I open my eyes.

It was a horrible feeling. And I never want to work on Friday the 13 anymore. It's not about superstitious. Because it happens to me...

Sigh...

• SUN-DAY•
08 May 2011

It's sunday.
It's post General Election day.
It's mother's day.
It's last day of my leave.
It's back to working life tomorrow.

I'm super duper dread, what's not.
And I can't help it that I can't head out to celebrate mum's day with mum.
Because she insisted to work for uncle on such a lovely day.
Sigh to her sturbborness.

I've made my last min plans to catch movie with boy instead.
At least I head out.
At least I make full use of my leave.
Not wasting it by rotting myside at home,
suffering from the heat that has been circulating in the house.
It has been super humid these days,
and my body sweats the second I'm done with my shower.
It's damn scary.
Hate it.
I miss the windy and rainy days...

Afternoon shift tml, morning shift the next day, and comes 3days of nights.
And I'm receiving my weekends off again.
How great.
Alright, till then.

PS: Wanted to post things regarding the GE, but I shall lock those comments. If not, it's not going to end...

• Family trip to Bangkok (2-5 May 2011)•

First day

We took budget tiger airbus to Suvarnabhumi Airport at 1120hrs.
I have to admit that the last time I board a plane, was when I was 3, leaving NO MEMORIES of the experience of it.
And finally, my virgin flight (yet not too virgin) , was with my family.
With Mum, Bro and sis.

I am expecting the good weather and started shooting clouds when I'm high in the sky...

Tons of Cirrus clouds. And I thought of my Geography lessons back when I was 14.

Oh! Can you see the meanders? I got so excited about it when I look down the window.

Arrived at airport, we took cabby down to our hotel apartment.
And this was the view from the hotel window.

I was super shocked at how 3rd world bangkok can be because it felt worse than Malaysia.
Or rather Malaysia seems cleaner and greener somehow.

We unpacked our luggage and head to have our lunch at 1500hrs.
First stop was at this chinese restaurant.
Anyway, for my whole trip, I did not went to any Traditional Thai Restaurant because my bro can never take spicy food. What a big waste..!!( I know).

Shopping at MBK during our first night.
And I bought my ND filter for my boyfriend. (my camera, I mean).

We went to the night streets along Siam Paragon at Siam street after MBK.
No photos taken because it was super crampy and I nearly saffocated in there.
Back to hotel after that and mark up our first day at BKK.

Day 2

It's shoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooping time.

We took a Tuk-Tuk to Platinum Mall.

And after nearly 6hrs of shopping, we had our dinner at :

We had handfuls and bagfuls of clothes and was planning to head back to hotel. However, we were told that our hotel is of walkable distance from platinum mall.
So we walked our way back.
With crazy drivers and mad-like traffic jams on roads.
Super dangerous, but we were all alive.

Bro requested to go back to MBK again on our second night, and there we went back there, and also back to the saffocation streets at Siam Streets.

Outside MBK, we heard jeers and screams, and we move into the crowds and found out.....
MUI THAI COMPETITION.

I actually took a video of it. And also multishots, to be able to see the movement of the two fighters.
More photos are in FB, as always.

For 2nd night, we ended earlier than 1st.
Due to the super tiring 6hrs of shopping at Platinum Mall, all of us were zonked zombies...

3rd and final day

It was Coronation Day at BKK during our 3rd day.
Lucky us. A public hols for all thais.
And the road in the morning was rather clear.

We took a cab to visit the biggest temple at BKK. (forgot the name of the temple)
But anyway we did not manage to enter because sis wore shorts that day, and it's prohibited.

But we never give up our trip.
We were approached by a tuk-tuk driver, we offer to bring us around BKK to see the different temple and allow us to pray to buddha.

There were 4 temples that we went. More photos in FB.
There was this particular temple that is 4-5 storey high up, and visitor has to climb up all the way to reach the enterence of the temple.
This was the view from the top.

Before we head to the airport, we went around Siam Paragon, Central Mall to do our last shopping.
Spending the last cent left in our wallets.
But still, I couldn't managed to spend all up.

Some random pictures during this trip...

I'm glad I had my trip to Thailand, BKK.
Somewhere near for eye-opener again.
And this time round, I had my chance up on plane.
And experience the horrible effect of pressure changes that causes irritable ear blocks.

We all had 3 days 3times of thai massage.
That costs us S$10 per hr per person.
Cheap like crazy, and we made it an everything MUST DO thing.

Seen how badly the streets were.
And I wonder how bad Africa could be.
And felt that S'poreans are really too pampered.
So I shall stop complaining about lifestyle from now on.

I know one day, I will head back to BKK again, and the rest of thailand as well.
It's just the matter of time.
BKK, Thailand, I'll be back.
Do wait for me.
No earthquake or whatsoever natural disaster to destroy you before I really explore you totally.
(Touchwood.)

I had an enjoyable annual leave,
with BKK trips being the most unforgettable one...
